Delete Or Disable?:

When it comes to leaving Instagram, you have two options: delete it or disable it. When you delete your account, it's gone forever, just like Thanos' snap. SNAP! Your profile, photos, videos, comments, likes, and followers are all gone.

Disabling your account, on the other hand, hides it until you reactivate it by logging back in. How To Download Data From Instagram:

From Instagram App:

1. Go to your own profile.

2. On the top right, tap the hamburger menu icon, which looks like three horizontal lines.

3. At the bottom right of the screen, tap Settings.

4. Select Security.

5. Then select Download Data from the drop-down menu.

6. Enter your email address and click the blue Request Download button after that.

From Web Browser:

1. Go to your own profile.

2. Select Edit Profile from the drop-down menu.

3. Select Privacy & Security from the drop-down menu.

4. Scroll down to the Data Download section and select Request Download from the drop-down menu.

5. Next, fill in your email address and click the blue Request Download button.

Downloading The Data:

Then, with the subject line "Your Instagram Data," you'll get an email. When you open the message, you'll see a link to your data. This link will expire in four days. Also, Instagram may take up to 48 hours to email you the link. My experience was that it took around an hour.

Once you click on the link, a folder with your photographs and videos will download. Everything from your profile information to your comments will be kept in separate folders. Instagram saves these in a JSON file (JavaScript Object Notation), which stands for JavaScript Object Notation. Text is used to display data, making it simple to read for people.

Deleting Your Instagram Account:

From Mobile App:

1. Go to your own profile.

2. On the upper right, tap the hamburger menu symbol (the three horizontal lines).

3. At the bottom right of the screen, tap Settings.

4. Select Help from the menu.

5. When you tap Help Center, a browser window will appear.

6. Select Managing Your Account from the drop-down menu.

7. Select Delete Your Account from the drop-down menu.

8. Make a tap on How Do I Delete My Account?

9. Go back to the first step and tap the Delete Your Account option.

Select a reason for deleting your account from the drop down box once you're on the Delete your account page. And, yes, you must complete this task or you will be unable to further. Then, when prompted, scroll down and enter your password.

Finally, press the red button that says "Permanently delete my account." You'll be asked whether you're sure you want to delete your account in a pop-up window. Select OK.

How To De-Activate Your Instagram Account?:

If you just want to take a break from Instagram or are undecided about permanently deleting your account, disable it instead.

Using a web browser, navigate to the deactivate page:

1. Visit Instagram's official website.

2. Go to your account and log in.

3. Select your profile from the drop-down menu.

4. Select Edit Profile from the drop-down menu.

5. Scroll down to the bottom right and choose Temporarily disable my account.

You may also use the app to get to the same page, however it is highly time consuming. To go to the Instagram app's Delete Your Account page, follow the steps outlined above. After that page has loaded, go to the Temporarily Disable Your Account page by clicking the link.

Select a reason for disabling your account from the drop down menu once you've arrived at the page. Then, on the blue Temporarily Disable Account option, confirm that you want to disable your account. You'll be asked whether you're sure you want to delete your account in a pop-up window. Select OK.

There! You're done, and you're no longer on Instagram. 

How To Re-Activate The Account:

You can, however, reactivate your dormant account if you ever want to return to the world of influencers and whatever IGTV is. Simply log back into your app or online to reactivate your account.
